Our family went on a road trip to Yogyakarta. It was a 1,124 kilometer (698.4 miles) return trip. Driven non-stop, each way would have taken 7 hours. Since there were 19 of us in four cars and we were traveling with small children and an elderly grandmother, we took it easy and made a stop every two hours or so. It ended up being a 15-hour drive each way. I was lucky because there were three adults who could drive in my car. Nevertheless, it was pretty exhausting to drive a car along a monotonous highway for 200 kilometers with children screaming in the backseat.
Being on vacation, I must adjust to the others when it comes to eating. I accepted the fact that the point of the whole program was to spend time together, and my intermittent fasting must take a back seat for the whole vacation. We spent the whole day exploring and visiting tourist spots, drank beer in the afternoon, had dinner at 8.30 PM, and hung out until 12 AM. During my fast, I would stop eating at 4PM. There was no way to keep an 8-hour eating window without bumming the whole group.
On top of that, I could not bring my smart scale, so I could not tell how I weighed daily. I brought a wrist blood pressure monitor, but I only used it once during the trip. The only thing I could note was what and (approximately) how much I ate.
My result on May 10, 2022, was 88.45 kg (194.99 lbs). Here are my results on the second day after returning home.

I consider this to be fortunate. I was able to keep my weight within the 88 kg range, despite being unable to keep a daily weighing and an 8-hour eating window. I can attribute this to two possible causes:
- I spent a lot of energy during the trip and my metabolism went into high gear. Hence, the calorie I took was immediately spent.
- I managed to keep my calorie intake within the normal 2,300 I would have needed to maintain my weight in the 88 kg range.
Now that I am back home, it’s time to continue the intermittent fasting in its normal mode.
